Trekkit TV started as an original program on Bell Aliant Community One, which is now in its third season. Thanks to the NB Film Co-op weekly Friday e-newsletter, the distributor Octapixx saw a Buzz Worthy post featuring Trekkit’s creator and NBFC member Ryan Groom and checked out the show. Long story short, Trekkit/Ryan has created a new show called Trekkit Traveller for the international market and the distributor has taken the show to MIPCOM (
http://www.mipcom.com/) held in Cannes France from Oct 13 to 16 to start finding an international market for the show.
Season One of Trekkit Traveller consists for 13 episodes ½ hour in length. Season 2 was filmed in Iceland and is currently being edited and Season 3 starts shooting in New Brunswick and UK in May.
The show focuses mainly on adventures in Atlantic Canada but Trekkit gets to one or two international destinations each year, which have included the United Kingdom, Iceland, and West Africa. Trekkit also uses a DJI Phantom to give a bird eye’s view to the show. Trekkit does have the Special Flight Operation Certificate from Transport Canada for commercial use and will be taking the DJI to the UK when Trekkit returns there in May 2015.
Fingers crossed as Trekkit brings adventurous Atlantic Canadians to the world market.

After a couple of years of wanting to shoot something for the Picaroons/SWFF 'Films on Tap' contest I finally put together a skeleton crew and convinced some amazing actors to follow us deep into the woods to shoot a short film involving beer. I like beer so naturally this contest appealed to me but even more importantly it was an opportunity to do what I love while supporting a local business that has always been crazy supportive of us film folk.
SWFF Sponsor Picaroons deserves all the exposure we can give them so I figured I'd do my part, plus the film turned out pretty well if I do say so myself, also I like beer. All in all it was an amazing experience full of laughs so I'd definitely recommend for people to get out there and shoot something. I mean, why not? Filmmaking=good, beer=good. I like beer.
