POSITION: Event Planning/Members Services Coordinator
Women in Film & Television - Atlantic
DATES: Nov. 28th 2016 - May 26th 2017
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The WMW Event Planning/ Member Services Coordinator will be responsible for the planning and coordination of, as well as the follow-up for the WIFT-ATLANTIC conference Women Making Waves. The candidate would work with the WIFT-Atlantic board to develop and produce the conference. The candidate will be responsible for program development, proposal writing, budgeting, member communications, and overall coordination of all activities for the Women Making Waves conference.
ELIGIBILITY:
This job is funded through the Job Creation Partnership Program of Employment. To be eligible for the position you must qualify for the program. Details about eligibility are below:
To be eligible for participation in Job Creation Partnerships, you must be an unemployed individual (“insured participant”) as defined by Section 58 of the Employment Insurance Act. This means that you are an individual for whom:
• an unemployment benefit period has been established or has ended within the three years prior to the date of requesting assistance;
• or a benefit period that included a maternity or parental claim has been established within the five years prior to the date of requesting assistance, after which you remained out of the labour market in order to care for a newborn or newly adopted child and are now seeking to re-enter the labour force.
SALARY: $15/hr based on a 35hr work week.

The WMW Communications Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing a PR campaign for the 2017 Women Making Waves conference. Specifically, he/she will be responsible for delegate outreach, website updates, Facebook WMW updates, member e-mail blasts and the development and delivery of our monthly newsletter Tidings leading up to the conference.

CELEBRATING THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF DANCE FREDERICTON'S THE NUTCRACKER BALLET
Presented by Dance Fredericton Danse and featuring guest artists Alanna McAdie and Yosuke Mino, soloists with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and Louis-Philippe Dionne former soloist with the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada, The Nutcracker is a full-length ballet which showcases original choreography created specifically for Dance Fredericton, elaborate costuming and sets, and the classical score by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
This fairy tale ballet opens with the festive Victorian party scene on Christmas Eve in the Stahlbaum home and later follows Clara and the Nutcracker Prince on their journey to the Land of the Sweets. In the Magical Kingdom they are feted with delightful dances from around the world, including the stunningly beautiful pas de deux of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier. This timeless classic will delight audiences of all ages. Performances November 26 at 7:30 pm and November 27 at 2:00 pm at The Playhouse, Fredericton NB.
Pre-show talk with Mr. David Moroni, C.M.
The audience is invited to attend a pre-show talk in the West Gallery of The Playhouse on Saturday at 6:30 pm and Sunday at 1:00 pm. Presentation by Mr. David Moroni, former principal dancer with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, and founder of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School.
FEST FORWARD HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND IN FREDERICTON!
Fredericton, NB—From November 18-20, 2016, the Charlotte Street Arts Centre will host the 6th annual emerging musician’s festival now known as FEST FORWARD, formally known as NB-ME. The festival shines a spotlight on the impressive, emerging music scene that’s growing in New Brunswick while providing a select group of emerging musicians with extensive professional development opportunities to help propel into their budding music careers. FEST FORWARD is ready and raring to host and support diverse new musical talent from across our beautiful province.
Featuring music that reaches across a variety of genres from pop to ambient indie folk to straight up blues, The Charlotte Street Arts Centre is thrilled to announce the 2016 Fest Forward performers: Rchii, The Tortoise, The Hare and The Millionaire, Andrew Moore, Jane Blanchard, Hum & Hollow and Våras.
Fest Forward is a music festival with a twist. We will be offering up two nights of amazing music AND a professional development workshop series entailing photo shoots, professional recording sessions, bio-writing, radio interviews and more – it’s a whirlwind weekend intensive with industry professionals and stakeholders helping motivated, young artists develop their professional practice and culminating in a performance showcase.
Each night of live music will be capped off with a performance by special guest performers. On Friday night we have Keith Hallet's latest musical endeavour called Janowski and on Saturday local rockabilly darlings, The Hypochondriacs will wrap up the festival.
Tickets are $15.00 for a weekend pass or $10.00 per show and are available at the door. The doors are at 7:30 and the show starts at 8pm sharp!

CINEMA POLITICA FREDERICTON PRESENTS I AM FEMEN
Cinema Politica Fredericton presents I Am Femen (Alain Margot/2014/95') on Friday, Nov. 25., at 7:00 pm at Conserver House, 180 Saint John St., Fredericton. This documentary chronicles the radical politics and controversial direct actions of Ukrainian feminists Femen. Oxana is a woman, a fighter, an artist. With others, she founds the famous feminist group which protests against the regime. Driven by a creative zeal and a desire to change the world, Oxana allows us a glimpse into her world and her personality, which is as vibrant as her artwork. This film is cosponsored by Reproductive Justice New Brunswick and the UNB/STU University Women's Centre. Members of both groups will be present for the optional discussion after the film. The stories of young women and men — delivered in sorrow and rage, with misting eyes and squared jaws — make this imperfect movie a must-watch work of cine-activism, one that should be seen by anyone headed to college and by those already on campus.
