Best of luck to Tracey Lavigne (Jane LeBlanc Filmmaker Award) as she begins shooting her short film Glitter this weekend. Also we wish most excellent shooting conditions to Rob Gray (Short Film Venture and artsnb grant recipient) who has started shooting his short film, My Husband's Jump.
Glitter Synopsis: A coming of age story about gender and sexual identity. Tara isn't ready for her senior prom -- until she faces the truth and finds the strength to be herself.
My Husband's Jump Synopsis: My Husband’s Jump is an adaptation of Newfoundland writer Jessica Grant’s stellar, Journey-prize-winning short story. In it, the wife of an Olympic ski jumper watches her husband jump, but most peculiarly, this time he does not come down. What unfolds is a storm of people turning to her for answers, seeking to understand how such an impossible thing could happen.
The 2017 NB Film Co-op/imagineNATIVE Incubator Award Winner is Natasha Francis from Indian Island and her project The Path To Nowhere will shoot July 7/8/9 this year. Natasha's producer is filmmaker Kennlin Barlow.

Presently looking for an actress to play the role of an old woman. We are presenting in collaboration with, ‘Église historique de Barachois public arts festival’ a French version of “Les Chaises” by Eugène Ionesco. This is a tragi-comedy part of the absurd theater movement. Stage experience is not necessary but it would be an asset. Must to able to learn lines and be available to rehearse during the summer to present in late August.
We are recruiting for other tasks such as set construction, technical assistants, marketing, etc.

CRTC DECISION IS CRIPPLING FOR CREATIVES IN CANADA
Check out the recent backwards CRTC decision and sign this petition to get our industry to help reverse it.
"A cultural coalition including the DGC, ACTRA, the CMPA and WGC is mounting an OFFICIAL HOUSE OF COMMONS PETITION calling on the Minister of Heritage to review the recent disastrous CRTC decision eliminating MORE THAN $200 MILLION+++ in broadcaster obligations for original Canadian Content (known in the CRTC's world as Programming of National Interest) over the next 5 years. That’s more than a dozen Canadian narrative television shows a year that simply won’t exist. That’s the erosion of our Canadian voice and culture."

CBC BREAKING BARRIERS FILM FUND
http://www.cbc.ca/breakingbarriers/m/site/
Offering new opportunities for filmmakers who have historically been at a disadvantage in accessing financing and making their unique voices heard, the CBC Breaking Barriers Film Fund supports the production of feature films from underrepresented Canadian creators. With the new fund, CBC is seeking English-language feature film projects that are written and directed by Canadian women, Indigenous persons, visible minorities and persons with a disability who have had at least one feature-length film showcased at a recognized film festival, and which are not in the documentary genre and not already in production. The projects must achieve at least six out of 10 points on the CAVCO scale and have an existing final draft script.
Eligible projects will be judged on the film’s creative merit. There are no application deadlines rather applications should be submitted when they are creatively ready.
