All Filmmakers who have submitted to the festival this year will find out in late September if their films have been accepted for programming in this year's festival.
Silver Wave will launch it's full programme, website and trailer on Friday, October 13, 12noon in the newly revamped and renovated auditorium in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, 732 Charlotte Street, Fredericton, NB. There will be refreshments and all are welcome!

NB Film Co-op member Jared Carney will be shooting his Short Film Venture project: Infinity Land on September 29, 30, October 1 and October 6, 7, 8.
Synopsis: Two oddballs cross paths in a dystopian alternate reality where human touch is fatal.

YMA ANDRA SHEFFER SCHOLARSHIP
Youth Media Alliance (YMA) is looking for promising entrepreneurial Canadian students at the university level who show a talent and passion for creating innovative children’s content. Each year, one outstanding Canadian student planning to pursue a career in children’s, television (animation or live action) or digital media production will be selected to receive the YMA Andra Sheffer Scholarship. The award enables recipients to attend the Kidscreen Summit in Miami and Banff World Media Festival in Alberta as well as access mentorship resources throughout the year.
Recipients will obtain invaluable exposure and opportunities to pursue a career in the children’s media industry.
The annual scholarship includes $2,000 CAD in cash to cover travel costs, one Kidscreen Summit conference registration (valued at approximately $1,595 USD) and one Banff World Media Festival registration (valued at approximately $1,695). The total value is approximately $6,000 CAD, cash and in-kind. Mentorship, provided to ensure the recipient benefits fully from the events, will be offered by YMA staff, Board of Directors members and children’s industry stakeholders and may include the following: help with choosing the most appropriate sessions, event orientation, personal introductions to industry members, attendance of networking meetings and, as appropriate, a review of the student’s pitch documents.
The Kidscreen Summit, the children’s entertainment industry’s most important annual conference, will be held in Miami, Florida, February 12–15, 2018. (http://summit.kidscreen.com/2018/)
The Banff World Media Festival provides delegates with the opportunity to meet global leaders and celebrate the world’s best content and talent. Banff, Alberta, June 10–13, 2018 (http://banffmediafestival.playbackonline.ca/2017/)
Both conferences include workshops, keynotes, presentations and panels exploring trends, innovations, critical issues and business solutions for the industry. The award recipient will have complete access to all events along with networking opportunities under the guidance of an Alliance member.

Cinema Politica Fredericton is 10 years old!
Films will be screened on Fridays at 7:00pm at Conserver House, 180 Saint John St. Stay tuned for possible campus screenings.
Films are free. Donations are encouraged to support filmmaking for social justice.
The Conserver House venue has an accessible entry but the washrooms are located up the stairs.

Sept. 29: Cinema Politica Fredericton presents "Surviving the Fundy Footpath"
"Surviving the Fundy Footpath" (Craig Norris / CA / 2016 / 41 min.) screens on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7:00pm at Conserver House, 180 Saint John St., Fredericton.
An adventure doc that follows mega-novice Bruce Persaud, a city slicker from Toronto with zero camping experience, as he attempts to complete one of Canada’s toughest multi-day hikes, the treacherous Fundy Footpath.
This is a Five Days for the Forest Event, an event organized by the Conservation Council of New Brunswick.
There will be an optional discussion after the film. All are welcome. Screenings are free but donations welcome. Conserver House location is wheelchair accessible but the washrooms are up the stairs. This is Cinema Politica Fredericton's 10th season!

DOC CIRCUIT MONTREAL LAUNCHES TALENT LAB!

The Talent Lab will take place this November 11 to 13. On the final day, its sessions will overlap with the full DCM professional market, providing a forum for discussions between emerging and established professionals. This year’s Talent Lab is built around three themes: Reverse, Incubate and Re-think. It will take a critical look at how creators reach audiences in the digital era, and how audiences receive their works. A personalized mentorship program will also be offered to seven selected filmmakers.
Emerging and mid-career directors with projects in development or production are invited to apply until October 8. All types of documentary project are welcome, including series, shorts, features, and interactive or experimental works.
PETER WINTONICK TRAVEL GRANT
Thanks to generous contributions from the Canadian documentary community, one or two Talent Lab participants from outside Quebec will receive the Peter Wintonick Travel Grant. DCM thanks John Walker Productions, Parabola Films, EyeSteelFilm, Bunbury Films, Kensington Communications, Barry Greenwald Inc., Close Up Films, White Pine Pictures, Invisible Hand Productions and Cinema Politica.
CANAL D GRANT
DCM is also pleased to announce that television network Canal D will offer, for the third straight year, a $10,000 grant, in the form of a development contract, to a French-language Talent Lab project. The Canal D grant will be awarded to the winner at the opening reception for the 13th edition of the Doc Circuit Montreal professional market, which runs from November 11 to 15.
