SPOTLIGHT!
Michelle Chlow
NB Film Co-op/WIFT-AT member Michelle Chlow
I was born in NS, and thanks to my father’s job, I’ve had the privilege to live all across this country including in an Inuit community in the arctic circle! When I lived in PEI, I worked for a software company where I was a project manager for 5 years. After the parent company was bought out by EA, I moved on to do cost analysis for a billion dollar construction project out west, and followed that up by working with Leah Johnston on her amazing short, My Younger Older Sister, which screened at Silver Wave Film Festival in recent years.
I’d always been drawn to the film industry, but working on that short gave me the bug! I moved to London, England and worked for a TV studio doing a little bit of everything, including lighting, camera work, and editing, but mostly I did pre-production work. Since my visa expired and I’ve returned to Canada I’ve been going between NB and NS working freelance on short films, ad campaigns, and a TV show while planning a short film of my own and working on a script for a feature film.
I joined the NB Film Co-op and WIFT-AT because I think now more than ever it’s important for women to make a name for themselves in this industry, and to support each other. With everything going on in the industry, those of us going forward need to ensure that the industry is, and remains, a safe and inviting place for women to work and tell their stories!

ENTROPIC FEATURE FILM
Well known actor Tommy James Murphy wrapped filming on the feature film Entropic recently. Entropic is being produced by Film Co-op members Robert Gray, Jon Dewar and Matt Rogers.
Tommy James Murphy is known for Steven Spielberg's Lucky 7 television show. He has also appeared in Covert Affairs and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage. Tommy has also worked as a James Franco stand in/body double on various projects. After working with Franco, Tommy wrote/produced/starred in a feature film called Recall which has world wide distribution.
Entropic is the story of the most beautiful man in the world who becomes exhausted with the burden of other people’s desires, and he comes up with a plan to get rid of their desires and to be free of that.
Entropic is one of 18 projects selected nationally for funding under the Micro-Budget Production Program, now in its fifth year. The collaboration between Telefilm Canada, the Talent Fund and partners Bell Media and Corus Entertainment, is meant to support emerging filmmakers and web-content creators that are producing their first feature-length project.
This would not be possible without the NB Film Co-op volunteering to coordinate the program and a jury every year for New Brunswick.
This is a great boost to the NB Film Co-op's creative community.
