CASTING CALL!
Casting for short film. Non-union, director driven, experimental film. No dialogue. Heavy improv. Small stipend for compensation.
Filmmaker’s previous work: https://vimeo.com/241686342
Description: short experimental film about a woman ostracized from family at a funeral
Shooting dates: April 12th, 13thand 14thin the Fredericton area, with mandatory rehearsal for lead and selected supporting cast April 6th.
Roles:
Lead: The Husband: early to mid 30s.
Well-dressed suit and tie guy. Entitled. Entertainer. Storyteller. Life of the party in a boastful, charming way which conceals being manipulative and menacing. Sociopathic mind with a kind-hearted face. Blames everything in life on others. Nothing is his fault.
Supporting:
The Woman: 30s.
Angry, confused, isolated, determined. Feels detached, disassociated, sees the day unfold as though through a dream, or nightmare. The film is told through her eyes.
The Mother:60s
Severe. Opinionated to the extreme. Unhappy. Mean. Ruthless. Sociopathic. Narcissistic. Vain. Overly made up. Dresses like she has millions to spend. Braggart. A victim in her mind. Revengeful.
The Uncle: 60s
Kind hearted. Educated. Worldly. Empathetic and sympathetic. Firm. A leader who leads with compassion and inclusion and not by instilling fear.
The Aunt (married to the uncle): 50s-60s
Stoic. Supportive. Tired of her husband’s family’s drama. Has no emotion for it anymore. Accepting or disassociated.
The Brother: mid 30s
Smarmy. Letch. Well-dressed but doesn’t wear it well. Drinker. Favorite child and knows it. Competitive with his brother. No empathy. No significant other – he’d drop them as soon as they’d fall in love with him.
Background: Additional family members (all age ranges) and friends (20s-60s), and people in cars
Requirements: Must be comfortable with improvisation and take direction well. Audition via self-tape. Short monologue will be provided upon interest in role.
