ERROL WILLIAMS DOCUMENTARY GRANT
NB Film Co-op member filmmaker Errol Williams
Purpose: To support the production of a short documentary film. (no longer than 10 minutes)
Background: Errol Williams was a pioneer filmmaker who was introduced to filmmaking at the NB Film Co-op in the late 1980’s. His dramatic and documentary films were screened at festivals around the world, and his international success helped shine a spotlight on the NB Film Co-op. He had a particular gift for documentary filmmaking and after his successful production of Echoes in the Rink: The Willie O’Ree Story (1997), he went on to produce two successful and influential documentary feature films in Bermuda When Voices Rise and Walking on a Sea of Glass. After his untimely death in 2007, a special award was set up in his honour and was presented to the winner of the Best low-budget NB Documentary film at the Silver Wave Film Festival.
After the 2011 Silver Wave Awards, it was decided to use the award to help fund a short documentary project and hence the creation of this award. Sponsors: New Brunswick Filmmaker’s Co-op, Tony Merzetti, Chris Campbell & Errol Williams Fund.
Process: There will be a call for submissions once per year. The deadline for entries is May 13, 2019. (the grant will only move forward if more than one application is received).
Congratulations to Larry Collicott who was awarded this grant in 2018.
Eligible applicants: Members in good standing at the NB Filmmakers’ Co-op. (must have been members for at least 6 months.)
Award composition: $400 cash from Errol Williams Fund, $300 cash from the NB Film Co-op, $500 equipment deferral and 6 professional development workshops from the NB Filmmakers Co-op (specific required workshops).

MEMBER SOUND GEAR FOR SALE
In the spirit of spring cleaning, I am reworking my location sound kit. I am looking to sell a few pieces of gear. If you are interested in location sound gear please contact me at: blegrow@gmail.com
For now I am looking to part with:
-Sound Devices 302 field mixer + stereo breakaway cable
$700
One of the best little mixers in the world! My 302 mixer is in very good shape. Some mild paint scratching from normal use in a sound bag. Everything works perfectly, it’s just not getting used!
The breakaway cable is in good shape - great for run and gun camera work.
-----------------------------------------------
-K-tek klassic boom (10.8') k102ccr
$400
This boom has never let me down! The boompole + cable are in very good shape, and work perfectly. The rubber grips are showing some wear, but do not affect functionality. I am selling this help fund a more compact boom pole.
-----------------------------------------------
-Versa flex VEBHS1 BHS-1 harness
$100
This is a lightweight harness and is in great shape. I am looking to sell because I purchased a different style of harness and this is sitting unused.
-----------------------------------------------
-Pelican 1730 Case
$300
This is a large heavy duty pelican case! Back in the day I would haul around my entire location sound kit inside this beast! It’s not getting used these days.
-----------------------------------------------
I also have various odds and sods and wireless gear that I may be willing to part with or trade if any sound folk are interested. Just give me a shout! I am certainly willing to haggle with any film coop members.
