Workshop Description:

(Elective Workshop)

Every shot is a choice. Every cut is a decision. Every image relates to the ones before it and after it in specific ways, and it is weaving these together in the edit suite that creates the meaning, tells the story, and influences how emotion will be elicited by the final project. In this action-packed, hour long workshop, we will use clips from some popular (but not recent) films to look at the various elements of film language and discuss the use of pacing, structure, shot choice, and sound in putting those elements together. Time permitting we may also discuss the roles of editors on different types of projects, and Mind-Reading: working with a director.
