Workshop Description: 

Horror filmmaker Ashley Phinney walks you through the challenges of making horror films. She shares how she makes her horror films for next to nothing, what it’s like to be a horror genre director in NB when most people are making comedies and dramas, and explores the evolution of the horror film. With personal stories, clips and scary warnings, Ashley shares her formula for staying empowered and getting your films made.

Instructor's Biography: 
Ashley Phinney is a filmmaker with a passion for cinematography. She has a degree in Media Arts and Cultures (Film Production) from the University of New Brunswick, is an active Film Co-op member and has been volunteering her time in the provincial film community for the past few years.  Ashley has been involved in outreach projects promoting film and education in the community including the 'What’s Up Doc?’ and 'Heritage Fair’ programs.  Ashley is the volunteer lead for HR on the annual Silver Wave Film Festival and assists with marketing and promotion for the event.
