In this 5 hour workshop filmmaker Donna Davies offers a comprehensive look at the art, craft, and business of creating expertly crafted documentary films.

Knowing when you’ve found a story you NEED to tell, doing your research, writing a great pitch sheet, creating a realistic budget, getting your project funded, find your visual style, the secret to doing great interviews, story structure, using archival materials, the key to smooth post production, getting distribution.

THE DIRECTOR'S PERSPECTIVE

(Film Co-op Members are required to take at least one directing course before they direct/produce their own projects through the Film Co-op)

Using a combination of tips, tricks and reflections from her many productions; the workshop will cover filmmaking from the director’s perspective. This workshop will focus on choosing shots that help tell the story by adding to the dialogue, putting your dream team core crew together, working with actors to get the best performance and organizing your shoot.

HD CAMERA AND LIGHTING & EVERYTHING THAT GOES WITH IT

This workshop is designed for media artists and filmmakers who would like to explore camera and lighting techniques in their independent and commercial projects.

Equifilm’s cameras, lighting, grip and extended equipment pool will be explored and attendees will be treated to a tour of Serge Morin’s expanded and renovated equipment rental space.
