Don’t Shoot the Professor: making documentary films inclusive and effective

In this workshop, Paul De Decker (a professor) will introduce you to an ethical approach to making documentary filmmaking that blends key concepts from academic research and film production. He argues that any knowledge that research professors possess - and which a documentary filmmaker wants to showcase - should, first and foremost, be integrated with communities who are most likely to benefit from or be affected by that knowledge. A documentary film should include a relevant and balanced involvement of all stakeholders.
