Workshop Description: 

(Film Co-op Members are required to take at least one creative writing/screenwriting course before they direct/produce their own projects through the Film Co-op) 

The first step to making a great short film is to cultivate and perfect the script. This workshop intensive will help you take your scripts to the next level. Whether you’re just curious about screenwriting, seeking to develop your first short film, or looking to further hone your skills as a screenwriter, this workshop will help sharpen your writing abilities and aid you in feeling more comfortable and confident as a storyteller.

Instructor's Biography: 
Arianna Martinez is a filmmaker, playwright, and educator living in New Brunswick. She has produced several short films that have screened across Canada and internationally. She is currently working as Producer for Jillian Acreman’s feature film Queen of the Andes (Telefilm Talent to Watch Program) and has recently finished production as Art Director on Lance Blakney’s short film Velle to Want (ArtsNB & NB Short Film Venture) and on Robert Gray’s feature film Entropic (Telefilm Micro-Budget Program). Her most recent short film Letters from the Dead (NB Short Film Venture Program) is in the early stages of its film festival circuit and has screened at 6 festivals and won two awards thus far. Gordon Mihan is a screenwriter, director, and playwright. He has produced and directed seven festival-screened short films across Canada and has written and staged several plays in New Brunswick. His most recent short film Coached was nominated for Best Screenwriting and Best New Brunswick Short at the 2017 Silver Wave Film Festival. At the 2018 Silver Wave Film Festival he was nominated for Best Sound Design, Best Picture Editing, and Best Screenwriting for Arianna Martinez's short film Letters from the Dead. He lives and works in Fredericton, New Brunswick and is a member of the NB Film Co-op.
