Tony Merzetti

Executive Director

First as a volunteer, then member, and now as Executive Director of the New Brunswick Filmmakers’ Co-operative, Tony Merzetti has devoted thirty-nine years to making the province of NB a center for film creation in Canada. He is also an award-winning cinematographer and teacher of film at the University of New Brunswick.

Tony sits on the board of directors for the Fredericton Arts Alliance and Canadian Independent Screen Fund, and is the lead for programming, events and, finance for the Silver Wave Film Festival.

Tony won an Excellence Award for Community Cultural Development in New Brunswick in 2005 and was awarded the CBC Pioneer Award at the Atlantic Film Festival in 2010. In 2012, Tony received the Caisses populaires acadiennes Arts and Cultural Management Award. $5000 went to the NB Film Co-op as part of the award. The NB Film Co-op was awarded ‘Arts Organization of the Year’ in NB in 2002 through the New Brunswick Foundation for the Arts. Tony was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in January 2023.

Cat LeBlanc

Membership Services Director

Cat has been a volunteer and staff member for 29 years. She assists members with their film/video productions from development to distribution. Cat coordinates the Co-op’s ongoing programming and activities. Cat also designs and builds websites.

Cat sits on the board for the Writers’ Federation of NB, Linda Joy Media Arts committee, and is co-lead for programming and events for the Silver Wave Film Festival. In addition, Cat and her mother run the Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund outside of her job at the Film Co-op.

Cat was awarded the CBC Pioneer Award at the Atlantic Film Festival in 2010 and was presented with the 2011 Wave Award for film, television, and new media, honouring women in the industry for their accomplishments, vision, leadership, and dedication.

Cat creates free-flowing hypnotic songs and musicscapes for film, commercials, and gallery installations. In addition, she has done music artist residencies at The Banff Centre and in Italy. She has received artsnb, Banff Centre, and Canada Council grants to create her music.

Matt Carr

Technical Coordinator

Matt Carr is a graduate of the Digital Filmmaking program at daVinci College. He is an award-winning editor and camera person comfortable in both the independent and commercial film and television sector. Matt has helped out on multiple productions since graduating.
