Maria Nazareth Araújo is a filmmaker based in Fredericton, NB. A former honours student at the Media Arts and Cultures department at the University of New Brunswick, Nazareth arrived in Canada in 2016 with the ambition to expand and explore her passion for photography and videography. During her time as a student, she was involved in several programs and events in the Fredericton community such as the What’s Up Doc? Program, the Pink Lobster Film Festival, the Silver Wave Film Festival, and the 48-Hour Film Competition. Nazareth has worked closely with cellphilms, 360º video making, and fiction as well as non-fiction video projects. Today, Nazareth works as a program support at Youth Fusion, an award-winning charity that implements innovative experiential learning projects to create ongoing links between school systems and the community. Involved with the media production program, which allows elementary students to develop a greater awareness of the media world by exploring different kinds of media, Nazareth today mentors at two First-Nation schools in the region and supports the development of the program in the province.
