Workshop Instructor: Mikey Wilson

Description: During this talk you will learn the basics of running sound for a film. The instructor will discuss the gear needed, prep and on set lingo, gain structure and techniques.

Biography: Mikey Wilson was Location Sound Mixer for SyFy's Revival filmed in Saint John area, Sound Mixer/Boom Op working for rawTV as a sound recordist for Discovery Channel's "Gold Rush,” and Sound Mixer/Boom Op for Strike Pictures "Do I know you from Somewhere". He does everything from Feature Films, Reality, Documentary and scripted TV having worked in the field for 19 years.

Hailing from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Mikey started his sound journey at the age of 12 when he got a wireless microphone and started to make radio shows and record bands. He moved to Vancouver and started working for Teletoon Network in post-production and opened a recording studio. He also toured with many bands. Mikey has done Tour Management/FOH, Monitor sound for such artists as Ron Sexsmith, Dan Mangan, Ria Mae, Wintersleep and many others. He loves all things audio.
