PART 2 - HANDS ON - IN PERSON WORKSHOP - SUNDAY, MARCH 5, 1PM-4PM, NB FILM CO-OP

Workshop Description:
In this two-part workshop we will explore the workflow and theory involved in a documentary interview including planning, designing questions, displaying and using scripts and the filming process. In the practical part of the workshop we will set up a multi-camera, lighting and audio recording environment and practice interviewing and filming.

Instructor’s Biography:

Drew Gilbert is a multidisciplinary designer who lives and works in Fredericton, NB. A new member of the NB Film Co-op, Drew has been volunteering on member film productions, capturing images and video of the Silver Wave Film Festival, and helping lead the NBFC Screenwriters Circle for 2023. Drew works as an Instructor (Photography and Videography) at the NB College of Craft and Design in Fredericton.

Becky Parsons is an award-winning cinematographer (Rhonda’s Party), fine art photographer (Kodak Achievement Award), and nominated director (Le Coeur Qui Bat – best music video – Music NB). A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, she has 20+ years’ experience in the photographic and motion picture arts.

Becky's experience in documentary motion pictures includes director of photography on the short film, I am Skylar (Rachel Bower), feature documentary Carmine Street Guitars (Ron Mann), and the CBC documentary Sweet Marie - The Music of Erin Costello (Amelia Curran). In her camera assisting days, her work includes the multi-award-winning Atlantic documentary features by John Walker, Passage and Arctic Defenders, and the highly acclaimed film Animals by Nova Scotia based artist Jason Young.
