Instructor’s Biography:

Kaitlyn Adair (she/her) is an actor, writer, director, and producer from Fredericton, New Brunswick. She started her career in film, working as an actor in film and television in Vancouver, B.C. She attended Vancouver Film School in 2011 and has been pursuing her passion for film since. Kaitlyn won the Jane Leblanc Filmmaker Award for her first film March 2.4, allowing her to attend a post-production residency at The Banff Centre For Arts and Creativity. In addition, she received the Short Film Venture Grant and the NB Joy Award for her second film, Together We Move. Kaitlyn is dedicated to feminist-based media and creating inclusive spaces for marginalized communities to partake in visual arts. You can find her @rebelatart on Instagram and Youtube.

Gia Milani is a director, writer and producer based in New Brunswick.

Her feature film All the Wrong Reasons premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), winning the Discovery Prize. The film also won the Script Accessible Award at Slamdance and the Viewer’s Choice Award at Silver Wave Film Festival.

She won CBC Television’s CBC 3-2-1 Award for her short film on human trafficking, A Dark Radius. Her feature screenplay, Strathcona, was shortlisted for the TIFF/CBC Diverse Screenwriter’s Grant (top six). After her win at TIFF, Gia was named as one of the top Canadian film talents to watch.

Gia was awarded a prestigious “A Grant” from ArtsNB to direct her experimental film AT THE BACK, which has received major awards at festivals. Gia also shadow directed two episodes of MR. D and was chosen by Women in View to be a spotlighted Director. Gia was recently accepted as a participant for the new regional training initiative, NSI Business For Producers – Atlantic Women’s Edition.
