The workshop focus is grant-writing and distribution for web series - the two ends of filmmaking that are often the hardest to get right.

The Art of Grantwriting: Where to go for dough

Ownership: Rights and exploit-ability

Promotion: Building awareness/audience

Distribution: Getting the film out there and ROI (Return on the Internet)

Instructor’s Biography:

Walter produces the web series/TV comedy hour, Everyone's Famous, with the IPF and CBC, nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards. Most recently he co-wrote and directed the bravoFACT funded short The Luckiest Most Unlucky Man in the World; directed a Canada Council funded cine-poem, Walls; and began a documentary about why we run called Run for Your Life. In 2011, Walter Forsyth was a Bell Media Fellow, won TIFF's Pitch This!, received a Sundance Doc Fund grant, and produced the award winning dramatic feature, The Disappeared. He produced How to Be Alone, which has been viewed over 6 million times on YouTube and directed the Scott Pilgrim music video that spawned the graphic novel series and feature film, Scott Pilgrim Versus the World.
